Boy Scouts + iFLY STEM

iFLY is proud to partner with the Boy Scouts of America and all Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers across the nation. Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Nova award program at iFLY work for BSA?

Scouts of all ages can now earn the Engineering portion of their Nova award at any iFLY location. This module is designed to help Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers explore how Engineering affects their everyday lives. This Nova Award will be for Engineering and will count as one of the four Nova Awards that cover STEM subjects.

After that, a Scout can earn three more Nova Awards, each one recognized with a separate Pi pin-on device that attaches to the patch. The patch and the three Pi pins represent each of the four STEM topics-science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.* iFLY is not responsible for distributing patches or pins. Contact your local unit leader for more information on the Nova Award.

Do I have to come for a Nova award, or is there an option to just come fly for fun?

Scouts can bring their families and enjoy flying together! It doesn’t have to be a formal Scouting event to enjoy this perk. Outside of any events for Nova Awards and STEM Scouts, Scouts can come fly anytime they want and receive a 15% discount.*

Scouts must be in uniform or show their Scout Membership Card at the tunnel to receive discount on any first-time flyer package.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on group size. Contact your local sales manager to find out more

How long will the field trip take?

From start to finish, the field trip will take about 3 hours. This includes a lecture, demonstration, classroom experiment, and the flight experience.

Can all Scouts participate?

Yes, we welcome all age levels of Scouts including anyone with physical or cognitive challenges to participate in our supportive and inclusive environment.
